One of the best parts of living in South Logan is having quick access to some of northern Utah's most beautiful camping destinations. Whether you're looking for a family-friendly campground, a lakeside retreat, or a secluded mountain escape, Cache Valley has something for every outdoor enthusiast.
At the top of many locals' lists is Tony Grove Lake. Located about 30 minutes from South Logan in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, Tony Grove Campground offers breathtaking mountain scenery, cool summer temperatures, access to hiking trails, and a beautiful alpine lake perfect for fishing, kayaking, and wildlife viewing. The area is especially stunning during wildflower season in July and August.
Another favorite is Wood Camp Campground in Logan Canyon. Situated along the Logan River, this campground provides easy access to fishing, hiking, and relaxing beside the water. The shaded campsites make it a popular destination for families looking to escape the summer heat.
For campers seeking a more rugged experience, Franklin Basin offers numerous dispersed camping opportunities with incredible mountain views and access to hiking trails. Local outdoor enthusiasts often recommend the area for its peaceful atmosphere and abundant wildlife.
South of Logan, Left Hand Fork in Blacksmith Fork Canyon is another hidden gem. The canyon features beautiful mountain scenery, streams, and numerous undeveloped camping areas that provide a more secluded outdoor experience. Many Cache Valley residents consider it one of the area's best spots for a quiet weekend getaway.
No matter which destination you choose, remember to practice Leave No Trace principles, check current fire restrictions, and make reservations when required.
From lakeside camping to mountain adventures, South Logan residents are fortunate to have some of Utah's most scenic outdoor destinations just minutes from home.
